Fredstock
It was the first time for Trude to attend a Fredstock and we sure hope it
won't be the last. So close to home and yet definitely "out of Auckland".
It was a marvelous weekend of sharing with friends. Thank you Fred! See the
photos here.

SpringFest
Another soul rejuvenating weekend at Waharau came about thanks to all of
us who attended and made it what it was. Special thanks to Royal Deborah (see
the photos) for taking the initiative and following through to make it happen
and to all the volunteers (you know who you are!) who added some of themselves
to the event. See the photos here.

Winter Shakup Festival at Waharau
I got off the plane in Auckland at 5:00AM, went home for a shower and short
nap, loaded up the van and headed out of town for this festival. It was a great
way to cope with jet lag besides being a wonderful weekend in it's own right.
Read all about it and see the evidence
here.

Back to Missouri
After a too long five year absence, I finally made it back to Missouri to visit
with family. I had a wonderful time of renewing family bonds with my parents
and three younger sisters and all the nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
The trip was made even sweeter by being able to contribute to and attend the
wedding of my niece Stephanie.

The Cup Returns to Titirangi
 |
As the defending champion, you cannot imagine my shame and
disappointment at being knocked out of the annual Devonport Folk Music
Club's Tiddly Wink Championship in the first round. Congratulations to
Tricia Lee for winning it back for the Titirangi Folk Music Club. I'll
have to start training months earlier for next years competition. |

Easter Weekend Music Festival at Te Aroha
Had a wet but nonetheless magical three days of sore but happy fingers, great
music and mingled souls at the Te Aroha festival. Mark and Jill have posted
lots of nice photos from the weekend
here.

Randy and Laura Hacker-Durbin
 |
Our dear friends Randy and Laura stayed with us for a couple
of days while on their way from Australia to the USA. As always it was
great to spend time with them and hear of their adventures. Here we are
visiting the Nataringa dragon. |

their 100th (combined ages) birthday party.

Back to Texas for LaVerne's funeral
Sadly, Trude's mom LaVerne lost the last battle in her war against lymphoma.
Trude and I both went back to Dallas to be with friends and family. Although
it was a sad occasion it was also a beautiful time of bonding and renewal.
25-28 January 2002
Auckland Folk Festival
Had a great time at the Auckland Folk Festival. It was a great weekend of camping
and continuous socializing and jamming. I was having so much fun being there
that I couldn't make myself stop long enough to take any photos.

Les Barker at The Bunker
Had an uproariously funny evening at The Bunker. Read about it here.

Trude Returns from Texas
|
Trude arrived back from Texas after visiting her family. She was called
away unexpectedly right after Christmas due to her mothers rapidly failing
health. Fortunately, LaVerne made a valiant recovery and Trude returned
all smiles. |
